About Us

Laura McAlpine, M.Ed. CCC-SLP, is a Speech and language Pathologist with over 24 years experience working with students to provide contextualized speech/ language intervention programs. Her experience includes 11 years in the public school system with extensive work in language learning disability classes, high school curriculum development for speech/language-impaired learners and as a diagnostician for augmentative/alternative communication. She has been a private practitioner for the past 13 years working with the school age population in areas of speech articulation, pragmatic language, reading, and writing development. Most notably, Laura has co-facilitated and developed Act As If, which is a cutting edge social cognition and skill development program incorporating social thinking research and behavior modification concepts. All Interactions associates are committed to realizing potential in students to become effective learners and communicators. Laura and all speech language pathologist associates are certified through the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.


Geoffrey Greenman, M.A. CCC-SLP, is a Speech and Language Pathologist whose experience includes working in elementary, middle, and high school settings. Currently, he works for the Virginia Public School system in addition to his work at Interactions. He provides speech and language therapy to students with intellectual, language, or emotionally based impairments or delays. Geoff’s work is focused on speech articulation, reading comprehension, fluency, and augmentative/alternative communication. His experience also includes developing and implementing pragmatic language groups for school age children with autism spectrum disorders. He is certified through the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.


Lisa Jan Sherman is an actress and has been a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) for over 25 years. Since 1990, she has performed totally improvised musical comedy with "Now This" www.nowthisimprov.com of which she is a founding member. It is there, that Lisa and her fellow cast members create customized musical shows, murder mysteries, treasure hunts, and corporate team building workshops. She has worked in film, commercials, radio, and stage. In her past life, she has also helped to open a dozen restaurants. She has enjoyed volunteering her time with adolescents and adult mentally disabled, mentally ill, and with animal rights welfare groups. Lisa and Laura have been working together facilitating social cognition groups for 15 years and co-developed Act As If in 2005. Lisa has a BA in Theatre and Speech from the University of Maryland.
